Sons And Daughters Of Liberia in collaboration with Dehcontee Liberian Dance Company Inc., the Liberian Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education is planning to host a Health Fair & Concert which is scheduled to be executed and held in Liberia, West Africa during December 9th through 20th, 2007.
The goal of the Youth Health Fair & Concert is to bring together volunteers, music artist, nurses, doctors and SADOL representatives in Liberia to increase health awareness by providing health screenings, activities, materials, demonstrations, and information. We plan to increase awareness of local and national health services and resources; motivate participants to make positive health behavior changes; provide selected health services for children and youths; teach self-care practices; identify topics and participants for future educational health programs; and establish a source for educational health programming in the country. The concert will serve as a venue where artists from the U.S and Liberia can volunteer their time and talents to entertain youths visiting the Health Fair. SADOL plans to travel with a mixed group of volunteers, who have expressed their interest in Liberia and the rebuilding of it socio-economic structure. These volunteers will serve in many different roles at the health fair and concert. Through health issues covered and information provided SADOL plans to spark a movement of youths who are aware of the issues facing them and their community and are willing to take an active role in maintaining their personal health and that of their community. This core group of volunteers will continue to work with the appropriate people after the Health Fair & Concert to ensure that the health and wellness of the youths of Liberia remains of utmost importance. They will also continue to seek funding and locate resources identified to aid programs geared towards such causes. SADOL plans to use all funds raised to execute the Health Fair & Concert and to donate all proceedings towards (a chosen health cause). This Health Fair & Concert is vital to the reconstruction of Liberia. The connections that will be made between the visiting volunteers and the youths residing in Liberia will have a positive, continuous and long lasting effect on them and their future encounters. |

Support the Cause!! We appreciate any help that we can get from you as we are in need of the following things: • Donors, Sponsors, and Vendors – SADOL has already identified some prospective corporate and individual sponsors, donors and vendors. We are still in need of additional due to the lack of most foundations and businesses unwillingness to support a project whose focus is primarily on a foreign country. Example of needs: o Financial support. o Incentives, giveaways, brochures, promotional items, bags to collect fair brochures and giveaways, and door prizes. o Vendors to promote key health topics at booths for the target audience. o Food, Drinks & Supplies o Transportation • Publicity – SADOL would appreciate your help in promoting the Health Fair & Benefit Concert through extensive mention in the news media or by word of mouth or other means of communication Example of needs: o media promotion and attention (U.S & Liberia) o Forwarding, mailing, and emailing information such as this to friends, family and appropriate persons. • Participation – SADOL is in dire need of volunteers & music artist. Example of needs: o Volunteers to welcome participants, assist with sign in sheets, escort school groups, assist with management of the health fair & benefit concert, etc. o Performers for benefit concert • Health professionals - physicians, dentists, chiropractors, podiatrists, optometrists, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants Examples of needs: o Provide appropriate screenings/services for the target audience o Volunteer for “Ask a Doctor,” “Ask a Nurse,” “Ask a Podiatrist,” “Ask a Pharmacist,” etc. booths. • Expertise – SADOL can benefit from your expertise, opinions, suggestions and offers.
